After Argentina, Mo Salah’s Egypt Also Likely to Play a Friendly in India

Indian football fans might be in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience this November. While all eyes were already on Argentina’s highly anticipated visit to Kerala, new reports suggest that Egypt, led by Mohamed Salah, could also be on its way.

According to the latest developments, Australia is set to play two international friendlies in India next month, one of which is already confirmed against Lionel Messi’s Argentina in November in Kochi. The second game, however, could feature Egypt as Australia’s next opponent, setting the stage for back-to-back blockbuster fixtures on Indian soil.

A Dream Double-Header for Indian Fans

If everything goes according to plan, Indian fans could witness not just Argentina vs Australia, but also Egypt vs Australia all within the same international window. The possibility of two global football icons, Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah, playing in India in the span of a few days is enough to send any football fan into a frenzy.

Recently, there were rumors that Argentina might be calling off their India tour, but the stakeholders of the event have clarified the situation and confirmed that the match will go ahead as planned.

They have also said that plans are in motion for Australia to play 2 international friendlies in November, one against Argentina, and they are still looking for another strong opponent for the Aussies.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, reports indicate that talks are taking place with potential opponents, possibly Iran from Asia or Egypt from Africa.

For Indian football fans, this could be the biggest football event of the year especially with the ISL currently on hold. Seeing the reigning World Champions, Argentina, and Africa’s most decorated team, Egypt, play in India would be historic. Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, known for its electric football atmosphere, is expected to host both matches.

If confirmed, Egypt would bring their golden generation, Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, while Argentina are expected to arrive with a full-strength squad featuring Enzo Fernández, De Paul, Julián Álvarez, and of course, Lionel Messi.

For Egypt, it could serve as a valuable preparation game ahead of their AFCON campaign starting in December. But at the same time, they may not want to risk injuries in a high-intensity match so close to a major tournament.

While fans are eagerly waiting for official confirmation, the stakeholders have also clarified that Messi will be part of Argentina’s traveling squad. Even if he plays limited minutes, his mere presence is enough to light up the stadium. And if Salah joins him in India around the same time, it would mark the first-ever occasion where both global icons are playing in the same country on Indian soil.

The football fever in Kerala is already at an all-time high, with ticket sales for the Argentina vs Australia match rumored to start in late October.

If Egypt’s arrival is confirmed, this November could go down as a historic month for Indian football, one where fans got to see Messi, Julian Alvarez, Salah, and Marmoush all in action within days of each other.

Because if the reports are true, this isn’t just about Argentina visiting India anymore.
It’s about India hosting two continents, two superstars, and two dream matches right here in Kochi.

As of now, these remain early-stage discussions, and fans will have to wait for official confirmation before getting their hopes up.
