Argentina’s scheduled match in November in India could be cancelled

Argentina’s much-anticipated friendly match scheduled to be played in India this November may no longer take place as initially planned. The Argentine Football Association is reportedly reconsidering its itinerary for the November tour, preferring to keep both fixtures geographically closer. After confirming the first match against Angola in Africa, the national team is now looking likely to face Morocco, also in Africa, instead of traveling to India.

This change is primarily motivated by logistical convenience and the competitive advantage of facing strong African opponents ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Fans in India, who had been eagerly awaiting Argentina’s arrival, an event that would have marked the team’s first visit to India since 2011, may be disappointed by the shift. Morocco, a semifinalist at the 2022 World Cup, is seen as a highly competitive opponent, providing Argentina valuable preparation in their final warm-up games before the World Cup draw in December.

The move underscores Argentina’s focus on quality and strategic readiness as they fine-tune their squad and tactics. While this development may dampen the excitement among Argentina’s extensive fan base in India, it aligns with the team’s broader plans to maximize performance opportunities with manageable travel demands.

Reports from Argentina suggest that the INDIA tour is off as Sports journalist Gastón Edul has reported that Argentina’s planned match in India will no longer take place, while their game in Angola is still on. This news comes as a big letdown for fans across India, who were eagerly looking forward to seeing the World Champions grace their home soil.

The official confirmation is still awaited, but all signs point towards Morocco replacing India as the second November opponent, marking a significant adjustment in Argentina’s international schedule. This series of matches in Africa will likely offer a tough but crucial test for the reigning world champions on their road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup
