Vitor Pereira faces a crucial test as struggling Wolves visit Tottenham Stadium in search of vital points.
Wolves are the only team this season who have yet to win a point as they have lost 5 out of 5 games in the Premier League so far, with scoring only 3 goals while conceding 12 goals. Although many pundits predicted Wolves would go down this season, even to them, this is a shocking start.
On the other hand, we have Spurs, who are in fine form, sitting third in the Premier League table. Thomas Frank’s men would be aiming to improve their home form as they host a struggling Wolves. Spurs would be considering this as an easy fixture, but they shouldn’t let their guard down, as Wolves would be aiming for a major upset this weekend.

Key Players to Look Out for:
For Spurs
- Romero: Spurs’ main man in defence, his defensive work often goes unnoticed, but he is one of the best CBs right now in the PL. One of the main reasons why the Spurs are having a good season is that Romero is fit for the majority of their games.
- Sarr: Many people might not believe it, but Sarr is Thomas Frank’s ultimate weapon. Like Norgaard during his Brentford tenure, Sarr plays a very similar role. Linking the defensive line to the attacking third, but also his dueling, as well as interceptions, keeps the Spurs safe from the counter-attacking vulnerability.
- Kudus: Ever since Kudus arrived in the PL, he has gone unnoticed, but his performance has never been overshadowed by those who play the real game. Always carrying a threat when going forward, he is the main goal threat for Wolves this weekend.
For Wolves
- Gomes: The only shining hope in Wolves’ armoury is the Brazilian midfielder; he & Andre had a very good partnership last season, contributing to each other’s attributes. With the latter injured for this fixture, if Wolves need a result today, they need Gomes firing at all ends.
- Strand-Larsen: Wolves’ ultimate striker, despite their struggles, he is the one man they can count on for converting their chances. As we can see, Wolves have generated good enough XG, but they have missed Strand-Larsen, who can convert these chances.
Tactical Battle
The biggest tactical battle would take place in the midfield, which is where the game is generally decided. Joa Gomes and Munetsi, two of Wolves’ best midfielders, need to be at their level best to counter Spurs midfield, which comprises Bergvall, Sarr & Palhinha. Wolves’ defence was heavily criticized this previous season & to the annoyance of Wolves supporters, there hasn’t been a major upgrade in their defence. The big signing, Xavi Simons, would be looking to exploit Wolves’ defensive problems.
Spurs, on the other hand, need to stop Strand-Larsen & the Wingbacks, especially Tchatchoua, who has earned quite a reputation in Serie A before his move to Wolves. Fer Lopez isn’t a guaranteed starter, but his involvement in the game would definitely cause the Spurs’ defence some problems.
