The last couple of gameweeks have been a rollercoaster. Gameweek 8 was full of high scores, while Gameweek 9 flipped the script, almost every premium FPL asset blanked, and suddenly, defenders stole the spotlight. Thankfully, I had a few of them in my team (we’ll get to that later).
But for now, let’s talk about what’s coming next, Gameweek 10, and why I’m very bullish on Arsenal.
If you’ve been saving your transfers, this might be the perfect time to cash them in. So, who should you bring in, and who should you ship out? Let’s break it down.
Why You Shouldn’t Ignore Arsenal Assets

Arsenal are comfortably sitting at the top of the Premier League table, and when I say comfortable, I mean it. They’ve only conceded three goals all season, and get this, they allowed just one shot on target in the entire month of October. That’s absurd defensive dominance.
Add to that a dreamy fixture run till Gameweek 20, and Arsenal look like the safest long-term bet in FPL right now. Even a triple-up on their assets doesn’t feel excessive.
Here’s how I’d go about it
Forwards
Bukayo Saka – The obvious one. Everything in Arsenal’s attack runs through him: set pieces, penalties, and open-play creativity. He’s the definition of a must-have.
Viktor Gyökeres – Not as explosive as we hoped in FPL terms yet, but his underlying numbers are solid. With the upcoming fixtures, he remains a safe long-term hold.
Midfielders
Declan Rice – He’s quietly putting up consistent numbers. On free kicks and corners, which is huge because Arsenal loves scoring from set pieces. A solid budget-friendly route into Arsenal’s midfield.
Eberechi Eze – Eze has done quite well in the absence of Odegaard, and if you are looking for a differential pick, you can take the Eze route.
Defenders
This is where Arsenal shines brightest. You can pick anyone from their backline and feel confident.
Gabriel, Timber, Calafiori, take your pick. Arsenal’s defensive metrics are elite, and with Burnley up next, another clean sheet feels almost guaranteed.
Sell: Mohamed Salah

It feels wrong to say this… but Mo Salah just hasn’t been his usual self this season.
Yes, he scored last week, but his overall impact and returns haven’t justified that hefty £14.3m price tag.
If you want to free up funds for Arsenal or strengthen your defense, now’s the time to move him on.
Hold: Joao Pedro
It’s been a few quiet weeks for Joao Pedro, but I’d still hold him for at least another couple of gameweeks. Chelsea’s fixtures are too good to ignore, and if he gets back on penalties, those returns will come.
Bonus Pick: Bryan Mbeumo
If you’re looking for a cheeky addition, Bryan Mbeumo could be your guy.
Manchester United seem to have found a bit of rhythm with three wins on the bounce, and Mbeumo has already racked up 4 goals and an assist this season. He’s been a consistent points-getter and remains an underrated pick.
How Spurs’ Defense Saved My Gameweek 9

Gameweek 9 was all about survival. I ended up with 61 points, and guess who did the heavy lifting? My defenders.
While Gyökeres, Semenyo, and even Haaland blanked, my double-up on Spurs’ defense saved the week.
Van de Ven’s brace and a Spurs clean sheet meant a combined 34 points from Van de Ven and Pedro Porro. Sometimes, defense really does win you the game.
My Team for Gameweek 10

I’m putting my money where my mouth is, tripling up on Arsenal.
I’ve brought Timber off the bench for Reijnders, and with Arsenal facing Burnley next, I’m expecting another clean sheet. And who knows, maybe Gabriel or Timber even chips in with a goal this week.
