FPL Gameweek 7: Top Picks, Differential and More

I haven’t been doing a lot of FPL streams lately due to some personal reasons, but the love for fantasy football never goes away. And since Gameweek 7 is here, I thought it’s the perfect time to dive into some of the big talking points everyone’s debating right now.

Should we sell Salah with Liverpool looking shaky? If not Haaland as captain, then who? Are there any real differentials worth the punt this week? And yes, is it finally time to bring back my old friend Bowen?

Let’s break it all down.

Differentials to Watch

Jurrien Timber

Here are three players who I think could sneak big points this week.

1. Jurrien Timber

Timber seems like a very good option to get someone from the Arsenal backline. With 4 shots on target, an xG of 1.7, and 8 chances created (2 of them big), Timber looks like a defender who offers value at both ends of the pitch. Add in his average DEFCON rating of 8 per 90, and you’ve got yourself a solid under-the-radar option.

2. Marcos Senesi

If you’re looking for a bargain defender, Senesi should be on your radar. He’s top for points among defenders, already has 2 assists, and is a bonus point magnet. Bournemouth rank in the top three for expected goals conceded (xGC), meaning clean sheets aren’t out of reach either. Senesi has returned in every game so far, making him one of the most consistent picks this season.

3. Anthony Gordon

Yes, Anthony Gordon. Back from injury and straight into the action. He’s also on penalties, which adds serious upside. The only caveat is his minutes he may not always get the full 90. But if you’re looking for a cheeky midfield differential, Gordon could pay off in style.

Keep or Sell Mo Salah?

Mo Salah

Liverpool’s form has dipped, and Salah hasn’t been the relentless FPL machine we’re used to. The points are still trickling in, but not at the premium price managers are paying. On top of that, Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures don’t scream “captaincy material.”

If you’re thinking of freeing up funds for other premiums, this might be the right time to move Salah on. But remember, selling him always comes with risk, one explosive return, and he’ll punish sellers hard.

Captaincy: If Not Haaland, Then Who?

Viktor Gyökeres

Let’s be honest: Erling Haaland is the default captain every week. His form is ridiculous, and he’s fixture-proof. But if you’re the kind of manager who likes to take risks, there are a couple of options.

The standout punt is Viktor Gyökeres. He’s been clinical for Arsenal and could be a fun gamble if you’re chasing in your mini-league. Still, the safe play is Haaland.

Time to Bring Bowen Back?

Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen feels like that reliable friend who always turns up when you need him. With a new manager bounce at West Ham and a tasty run of fixtures against Brentford, Leeds, Newcastle, and Burnley, Bowen could be about to explode again.

If you’re eyeing a West Ham asset, he’s the standout. Bowen combines consistency with explosiveness, and this feels like the right time to jump back on the train. He is already on my FPL team, and I’m expecting him to bag a lot of points in the coming weeks.

This is the last gameweek before the international break, so if your team doesn’t necessarily need any changes, I would suggest you go with the same squad for this week, so that you can have more clarity on whom to pick in your team when Club football returns.

I read about football and turn it into stories—sometimes funny, sometimes emotional, but always real. For me, football has never been about formations or stats. It’s about the memories, the chaos, and those moments fans never forget. The kind of things you still talk about with your friends long after the final whistle. That’s what I try to capture here.
