Bayern Munich vs Chelsea: Kick-off time, Live streams, Team news, X-Factor’s Head-to-Head, Predicted lineups:

The Blues return to Champions League action for the first time since 2023 and are facing the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, who are off to a flying start in their new Bundesliga campaign.

Kick Off Timing:

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea is scheduled for a 12:30 am IST  (8 pm BST) kick-off on Thursday, 18th September 2025 at Bayern’s home ground, Allianz Arena.

Live Stream:

The match will be live on the Sony LIV app, and will be telecast on Sony Sports Ten 1 too.

Team News:

  • The team news from the Chelsea side looks concerning as they will be without their new addition, Liam Delap, who suffered a hamstring injury before the international break began.

Dario Essugo(thigh injury), Romeo Lavia ( muscle problem), and Benoit Badiashile( knock) will also be out for the fixture.

Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro are also not fully fit coming into the Champions League matchday.

  • On the other side, Raphael Guerreiro is unavailable for Bayern after suffering an abdominal injury against Hamburger SV last time out. Alphonso Davies (ACL) and Hiroki Ito (foot) are both out, too, for Bayern, including the star Jamal Musiala, who suffered a severe fracture injury ( broken fibula) and a dislocated ankle in the club World Cup.

X-Factors :

  1. Cole Palmer (Creativity + Composure) – Chelsea’s most dangerous weapon in attack, both as creator and finisher.
  1. Harry Kane (Goal Machine) – In red-hot form, his link-up play + finishing in Europe make him the focal point for Bayern.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea

Head-to-Head

Bayern Munich have enjoyed the upper hand in recent encounters with Chelsea, winning three of their last four Champions League meetings (D1), the only blemish coming in the 2012 final defeat on penalties.

Their dominance was underlined in the 2019–20 last-16 tie, where Bayern cruised past the Blues with a 7–1 aggregate score (3-0 away, 4-1 at home).

Chelsea, meanwhile, have struggled historically in this matchup — losing 60% of their European Cup/Champions League clashes with Bayern (W1 D1 L3). That’s their worst loss percentage against any side they’ve faced at least five times in these competitions.

Predicted line-ups :

Chelsea predicted line-up –

Sanchez (GK) — James, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella — Fernandez, Caicedo — Neto, Palmer, Garnacho — Joao Pedro

Bayern Munich predicted line-up-

Neuer (GK) — Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic — Kimmich, Pavlovic — Olise, Gnabry, Diaz — Kane
