Odisha FC head into the Indian Super League 2025/26 season with a point to prove after a near miss from qualifying for playoffs in the previous campaign. The Kalinga Warriors started ISL 2024/25 brightly and looked set for a strong playoff push, but inconsistency and a loss of momentum saw them finish 7th in the league, narrowly missing out on a spot in the ISL Playoffs.
The new season brings a very different narrative for Odisha FC. There has been a major shift in squad dynamics, especially in the foreign department, where the club now has just one overseas player on the roster, with no direct replacements brought in for those who departed. This places a heavy emphasis on Indian talent, tactical discipline, and squad unity going into ISL 2025/26.
Potential Starting XI [4-2-3-1]
At the back, club captain Amrinder Singh continues as the first-choice goalkeeper, bringing leadership, experience, and reliability between the posts. His shot-stopping ability and command of the box will be crucial in tight matches this season.
The defensive line blends familiarity with fresh faces. One of the few new signings, Vanlalzuidika Chhakchhuak, is expected to slot in at right-back, while Saviour Gama continues on the left flank. In central defence, Moirangthem Thoiba partners Carlos Delgado, a pairing that offers a mix of composure, aerial presence, and game awareness.

Midfield stability could be the key to Odisha FC’s balance. Puitea and Rohit Kumar are set to continue as the central midfield duo, providing defensive cover and ball progression from deep. Their chemistry will be vital in controlling the tempo of matches and shielding the backline throughout the season. Adding creativity higher up the pitch is new signing Lalrinfela. The former Mohammedan SC midfielder is expected to operate as the attacking midfielder.
The wings retain pace and familiarity. Rahul KP is likely to continue on the right wing, offering direct running and width, while Isak Vanlalruatfela remains the preferred option on the left, known for his work rate and ability to stretch defences.
Leading the line this season will be Rahim Ali. The Indian striker is expected to exploit spaces inside the box playing a central role in Odisha FC’s attacking plans for ISL 2025/26.
On the touchline, Odisha FC will begin a new chapter with an Indian coach. T.G. Purushothaman taking charge as head coach, marking a significant shift in approach as the club places faith in domestic coaching talent to guide them through a challenging season.
